Healthcare and energy companies most nominated for inaugural Corporate Secretary Awards

New York, September 29, 2008Corporate Secretary has announced the shortlist for the first-ever Corporate Secretary Magazine Awards. Healthcare and energy companies are mentioned most frequently on the shortlist, with each sector receiving eight nominations. More than 15 sectors received nominations for the awards, which recognize the leaders in governance, risk, compliance and ethics.
 
The winners will be announced on Tuesday, November 11, at the inaugural black-tie awards ceremony at Cipriani 23rd Street, New York. A full list of this year’s nominated companies is available below or on our website at www.corporatesecretary.com/awards.   

The awards are presented in association with Jenner & Block, supported by the Society of Corporate Compliance & Ethics co-sponsored by BNY Mellon Shareowner Services, Broadridge, Corporation Service Company (CSC), CT, DF King & Co, Georgeson – a Computershare company, NYSE Euronext, the Altman Group and TMF.

Corporate Secretary is launching the Corporate Secretary Magazine Awards this year to ‘recognize the people behind good governance.’ The award winners will be decided by an eight-person judging panel including Norman Veasey, former chief justice of Delaware; Roel Campos, former SEC Commissioner (2002-2007); Charles Elson of the John Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, University of Delaware; Kenneth Bertsch, executive director and head of corporate governance at Morgan Stanley Investment Management; and several other corporate governance experts.
