China Merchants Bank sweeps SOE categories at IR Magazine China Awards

Shanghai, December 7, 2007 – China Merchants Bank was the company to beat at yesterday’s IR Magazine China Awards luncheon held at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai. The firm garnered all the awards in the state-owned enterprise (SOE) categories: grand prix for best investor relations – SOE, best investor relations officer – SOE (Qi Lan), most progress in IR – SOE, and best corporate governance – SOE. In addition, the company picked up awards for best investor relations by a CEO (Weihua Ma), and best annual report and other corporate literature.

China Vanke took home three awards including the grand prix for best investor relations – non-SOE, best investor relations officer – non-SOE (Shirley Xiao) and best investment meetings.

The winners were identified by independent research and announced at a prestigious luncheon on Thursday, December 6 as part of the IR Magazine China Conference & Awards 2007.

A number of listed companies also supported the IR Magazine China Awards: Bank of China, China Life Insurance and China Vanke.

The awards are based on the results of an independent survey of nearly 350 buy-side analysts, sell-side analysts and portfolio managers from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and other Asian markets. The complete results from the survey are published in IR magazine’s Investor Perception Study, Asia 2007/2008.

The IR magazine investor perception studies together make up the world’s largest survey of this kind, canvassing over 5,000 analysts and investors in more than 14 countries and regions. Survey respondents nominate companies in specific categories and offer their opinions on IR-related topics and trends.
